Mission Zero
project overview
This project was part of THUAS’ Mission Zero initiative, which aims to create a more sustainable and environmentally conscious campus. The focus was on tackling the issue of cigarette butt littering around THUAS — a persistent problem caused by limited disposal options and behaviour among smokers at THUAS. Based on thorough research, ideation, and design, the project proposed a two-part solution: a practical, physical intervention through additional ashtrays placed in key smoking areas and fostering dialogue with the tobacco store next to the campus, and a behavioral campaign designed to encourage responsible disposal habits. The awareness campaign was communicated through sticker designs for ashtrays and cigarette packs, along with informational flyers, all designed using THUAS' styling and mascot. All aimed at sparking small but lasting behavioural change without promoting smoking itself. The outcome is a practical and low-cost design direction that addresses both the physical and behavioral sides of the issue, aiming to make THUAS a cleaner and more sustainable environment.
